100 Days of School

Every school celebrates their 100th day of school so Emmy had to have a project of 100 things. Emmy displayed 100 bracelets--she does love her jewelry!!!

I can't even remember now what it was but when I told her she couldn't do it, she said that all her friends did. Before I could say a word, she replied "I know, I know, you aren't worried about them, I am your kid and that's your only concern. I got it." I sometimes think she might be listening to me after all.

Stuff

We have been discussing what is “cry-worthy” and what isn’t. For example, missing the end of a twenty five year old episode of Full House because you were in the bathroom isn’t cry-worthy but stubbing your toe and ripping off half of the nail is certainly cry-worthy. Emmy really wanted to go to Easy Way, the produce store, for some reason but when we pulled up at 6:15, it had closed at 6. I was telling her that this was not cry-worthy as she boo-hoo’d in the back seat.  When we arrived at the house, John was gone to play music and Emmy oh so solemnly said, “Well, this is definitely cry-worthy”.

I am not sure what we were watching but she asked if we could please watch something “a little radder”.

I finally found something to do with all the extra Christmas cards we had from last year—making flash cards for Emmy’s sight words. As we sat at a red light, I pulled them out and she gasped “Where did you find those?’ It turns out, she hid them in a drawer at home  to get a break from doing word practice.

Becca had these wonderful pictures made of our sweet Dean. I am simply amazed at the beautiful, healthy and brilliant kids in our family.

Oh, Dean!!!

Sunday, I spent all afternoon snuggled up with sweet Dean. It was quite lovely. Emmy loves to hold him so I did let her have him for a few moments. She talked so sweetly to him, telling him “Welcome to the Blue Eyes Club, just like your favorite cousin!” Once when he was enjoying a particularly deep sleep, she said, “oh he is snoring! Just like all the men in my life!”

Funny kid(s)

“Ewww! Mom!”

“Emmy, that wasn’t me; that was Bill.”

“Yeah, right. Everyone ones knows dogs don’t fart.”

Her pompom fell off her hat. She asked me to fix it and then followed up with, “you know, LynnLynn sews better than you so we should ask her. She’s been sewing things for me for years.”

Rose is so polite and proper that she calls all the ladies “Miss” but I keep telling her I am Aunt Tara, not Miss Tara. We have compromised and now I am Miss Aunt Tara.

Funny girl

Emmy has kept us rolling with laughter lately and when I come back to try and record them, I can’t remember what it was. I hate that I am not getting this cemented in my mind.

Our neighbor came over the other day to borrow something and while John was getting it, Emmy hit him up for his change. She told him she was saving to go to Paris, France and she needed all he had.

John has band practice on Wednesday nights while we are at church and last night, she was very worried about him being home when she got there. I asked why she was so determined for him to be there and she said, “Mama, he’s the best guy I have ever known!”
