Sol & Rose's Birthdays

The Jacksons are the ones that introduced us to Hamilton and Sol and Rose had not seen it yet. For their birthdays, we made a quick trip to Chicago, flying out Saturday morning and back to Memphis on Sunday morning. I asked for a car to pick us up at the airport and they sent a limo!!! The kids were amazed.

We got to see the show, go to the Bean, eat at the Nutella Café and then to Hancock Tower doing the Tilt. It was great and I could not be happier to spend the time with them.

Papa Richie

It is hard to believe Papa Richie has been gone almost a whole year. My heart hurts to think of it. But, Fayetteville was his favorite place and graduating from the UofA was one his greatest points of pride. We took his ashes to the University to spread them at his favorite places: the senior walk with his name, the football stadium and his beloved basketball area.

We took advantage of the beautiful offerings in NWA and visited Crystal Bridges museum in time to see the Dale Chihuly exhibit. It is one of my favorites.

On the way out of town, we visited John's BFF Steve and his wife Karen and then saw the Great Passion Play statue of Jesus on the way home.

 

But, last but certainly not least on the way home, we found our newest Burton family member. A pig! Wade Garrett did not enjoy the drive home much. He sat in between John's legs for the most part but when we got on the old bridge coming into Memphis, he was quite upset and got into the rear glass. Passersby were quite surprised to see him riding there! Now, he's home and making a pen for himself in the backyard.

 

 

 

MIFA Meals on Wheels

I love that we can volunteer through our church with MIFA and deliver Meals on Wheels. Emmy and John have their own "peanut butter jelly time" song they sing and I am hopeful we are teaching her about giving back. We have been so lucky in our lives and we want to make sure she knows. This day, Emmy and John both had on their Golden Girl shirts. They might be the cutest things ever.

Swimming Pool!

We put in a pool this year and it has been..... awesome! We have had all kinds of guests, even ducks and a snake!
