Quarantine Day 54

Each year, AunTee goes on a trip with me. It is officially her birthday trip but I do a little work while I am there at a conference;) Today we were going to Palm Springs. I was so excited to go to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library while there. Of course, we are not going.

I got an email from her school that we can return their school issued laptops and clean out lockers. It's quite an odd ending to the year.

Quarantine Day 44

Emmy has hit her proverbial wall. She is so bored that she asks me to just drive us around. We just drive. She listens to the radio, does her dances, and laughs honorably at my jokes. We went late one night so that we could see the light show on the 'new' bridge downtown. It is pretty cool and I am glad we finally did it. It seems like this is making us taking a lot of time to do things we never thought to do before.

Quarantine Day 43

During one of our drives, we headed downtown to see the lights on the bridge. They are pretty amazing. But the strangest part was how empty Beale Street was!

Quarantine Day 42

Quarantine Day 41

The hardest part of this has been staying away from the people I love. The Jackson kids are just about the best thing ever and I miss them terribly. They send me sweet Easter pictures and I replied by sending them this hug:)

Quarentine Day 40

Lots of crafts.

I have made ornaments, shirts for John's band, shirts for me, shirts for Tara's family. Lots of crafts.

Quarantine Day 39

In an effort to find things to do, I was coloring pages in my adult coloring book which I then mailed to our friends. At 44 years old, I still am an excellent colorer.

I also had John draw an outline of me on an old row of fax paper. Then I decorated it and sent it to the Jackson kids that it was a hug from me. I am sure they are currently asking their family "why is Aunt Tara so weird?"

I had a doctor appointment so the whole family rode with me. I waited in the parking lot and the nurse motioned to me to enter and gave me my mask. Before we left I told Emmy to put on some pants and she replied that she thought she didn't have to go inside. I told her she didn't but we still had to wear pants!

On the way home, I noticed that my favorite lunch spot with my friend Tina was open for pick up so I got us an order to go and John a margarita--there are a few perks. I called Tina and told her to meet me on the porch with a plate and a knife and not a single question was asked.

I made a picnic table for the squirrels in our yard.

Quarantine Day 37

Each year, we attend the FedEx Family House Gala to support the house that we as a company and we as a family support so much. This year, the gala was postponed. It certainly did not feel right to give up my fancy dress and heels to continue my pressure washing.

Quarantine Day 31

Well, this was an odd Easter.

Quarantine Day 25

A few months ago, there was a goofy hoax going around that birds were fake. The ideas was that birds are really cameras they government uses to spy on us. Nothing like a good crisis to expand on hoaxes.

Quarantine Day 23

We have spent hours pressure washing every flat surface in the yard. I am not certain that I am not just pressure washing blades of grass at this point. We also got a small woodchipper but apparently need a larger one.

The ATMs at the main office are going through $1 million dollars a week.

Quarantine Day 22

After doing some work calls, I thought the dryer vent needed cleaning. Two hours later, I was putting screws back in where I was convinced I could get just a little more lint if I took it apart. This is really getting interesting. We have deep cleaned and cleaned out spaces.

Quarantine Day 19

Quarantine Day 21

We took Lily and Elly to the vet today. It was so strange that we parked and the vet tech came out to get them, took them inside for the appointments and brought them back.

Social distancing, y'all.

Quarantine Day 20

Someone put a meme on Facebook that the governor was having all kids repeat the school year. Being April Fools Day, of course I showed Emmy who was not amused.

Quarantine day 17

Today’s highlight is that John made bread. It tasted exactly like a 44 year old making bread for the first time in the middle of a lockdown sound like it would taste.

The latest update nationally is that things will be closed until April 30. It is terrifying.

John's band practices in the upstairs area. I was trying to sound proof it a little better. That was exhausting in itself but fingers crossed, it helps with noise outside.

Quarantine Day 16

Thank goodness for the insanity that is on TV now. The memes coming from it are amazing. One day we will have to describe it but now we can enjoy the memes. I don't think we would have made it without Tiger King.

Quarantine Day 16

Emmy graced us with her presence for a movie today. I’m still trying to paint cushions to use by the pool this summer but Iam almost convinced it will be cheaper to buy new.

Emmy has wanted donuts when I do leave the house and I haven’t gotten by before closing time. Today was serindipiotous that KFC had donuts and chicken. Score!

I was supposed to throw an engagement party for my amazing executive assistant and her fiancé today. Obviously that did not happen.

Quarantine Day 15

I worked from home and Emmy did math work. Emmy helped John replace the garden bed edging in the front yard while I power washed all the brick ways. The excitement is overwhelming.

Quarantine Day 14

John is attempting to make his own bread.

Trump extended the shut down through April 30th.

Quarantine Day 13

In an attempt to get people to stay at home, all the rules have changed. Tennessee state law does not allow restaurants to serve alcohol to go. Now that we are not allowed to eat in restaurants, we can do delivery and have cocktails ready to go. I have never seen this anywhere but New Orleans in the early 90s when you could pull away with a daiquiri!

Quarantine Day 12

The best way to describe things around Burton Manor is to say that John is currently drinking whiskey from a salad dressing cruet. President Trump said today that he hoped the country was up and running by Easter. People promptly lost their minds. I think his attempts at optimism come across as not believing the virus is a real threat.

Oh it is real all right.

I went in the office today and made the difficult decision to close all branch access except for drive thrus at two of our offices. All of our remaining staff are working remotely now. I never imagined this would be possibl

e for us. It's not the best and we don't love it but it is what we have to do right now.
