Precious cousins
Emmy and Sol and Rose absolutely adore Dean. The poor boy. Emmy told me that he texted her on his baby phone to tell her she was his favorite.

Easter Day
We had such a wonderful Easter! Papa Richie and Lynnlynn joined us for church with the Jackson's. We are so grateful for not only an amazing person like Becca in our family but her amazing family as well. Immediately after church, Sol and Rose jumped back into their pajamas and Julia and John B were there to play too. There were costume changes and egg hunts and chocolate bunnies for all.

Easter fun
Our church's egg hunt was modified somewhat due to the rain but Emmy managed to get this awesome face painting. She thinks she is wearing it to church tomorrow. I really hope she is wrong.
Emmy "You are really stealing my best fabric for jokes."
Me "Do you mean your best material?"
Emmy "Of course; that's what I said."

Easter Egg Hunt 1
We went to our first egg hunt of the year and Emmy loved spending some weekend time with her friends. We are hoping it warms up quite a bit for our next round of hunts! After that, we went shoe shopping. I don't think I can handle it-- she is oh so very picky!!!!

And, well....
Emmy Ruth said this a few months ago and I can’t remember if I wrote it down. She was asking me about Noah and I asked her which Noah she meant—we know lots of kids named Noah. She replied, “not Noah from my class, you know the Noah from the olden days, like the seventies…. You know the one with all the animals”.
This morning as we got in the car, the radio was on ESPN and the host was talking about the NBA and made the comment that everyone says the NBA is diluted. Emmy piped up with “I have never said that, Mama”.
We have a new community center in midtown. It is super amazing and was a very generous gift by the Kroc family. We are so lucky that it is amount one mile from our house so we joined as soon as we were able to do so. Not only is there a fitness center, but there are basketball courts and a child watch area, there is also an indoor water park. Emmy loves it. We usually go swim about once a week and we went last night—as it was 35 degrees outside. There was a little boy there that Emmy took an interest in and I felt like a boring old mom for the first time. I just kinda floated along behind them on my pool noodle in the lazy river while they played. I half expected her to ask him for his phone number when we left! I am so very not ready for this girl to grow up any more.

Oh that girl.
AunTee gave Emmy a microphone for her birthday—you know, to go along with her rock and roll party. Last night as she was going to sleep, she beckoned us from her room, via microphone, “hello, I am ready for my bedtime story; please come to my bedroom.”
Um, okay.
On Saturday afternoon, we made a spur of the moment trip to Jonesboro to meet the Salinases for dinner. I didn’t tell Emmy where we were going so she was delighted to see them. She and Lucas crack me up together. She just adores him and can’t get enough hugs and kisses from him. Since he is all boy, he can’t quite hang with all of that. He had on a white t-shirt and a trendy denim shirt so I told him he looked like a country music star. “That’s because I am, Thia, I am in a band, you know.” Oh yes, I know, Lucas. We got so tickled at Emmy and Lucas harmonizing together to sing Taylor Swift’s song, Trouble.
Best friends are pretty awesome.

Music Musings
“You know my favorite my music is hip hop.”
“No, I didn’t know that.”
“You know, like Kidz Bop.”

Silly girl
John has been working a lot of weekends so Emmy and I had some girl time this Saturday. We went downtown and had breakfast and as we were walking back to our car, we saw some friends from church. After they left, Emmy asked if they had their kids with them. I told her no and she replied, “well, if you don’t have your kids with you, you might as well just be at work!”
I found this old collar of mine in some dress up things and I had Emmy try it on. She was curious about it and asked “I’m not a dog, why are you putting a collar on me?”

Little Rock Half Marathon
Tara and I did the LR half marathon this year. It was so much fun and I can't wait to do it again next year. I am hopeful that next year, I can not only improve my time, but have eyeballs when I finish. I am not sure why I have no eyeballs in this picture.
Emmy had this note for me when I got home. "Great job for winning your marathon." Spelling was never a good area for me either but it is such a sweet thought! Because, really, finishing is winning.
